The northern areas of Alice Springs have been famous for camping, bush walking, four wheel driving and gem fossicking. From there, you can experience the pleasure of seeing real gems like Quartz, Garnet, Zircon and Tourmaline in their natural environment.
The Alice Springs Desert Park, based outside of the town, showcases examples of Alice Springs’ unique wildlife. The park offers comfortable walking tracks, several guided tours and nocturnal exhibits that will surely keep you entertained. You might also find it great to visit the Olive Pink Botanical Garden after a rain. It is a desert botanical garden named after the anthropologist Olive Pink who lived within the town for 30 years. Another must-see spot is the Reptile Centre, the place where you can have a live view of the local and imported reptiles of Alice Springs.
Alice Springs has been famed as the “Aboriginal Art Capital of Central Australia” and this title is greatly evidenced by a number of museums and artistic architecture that can be found within the town. Some of the prominent historic spots are The Residency, Adelaide House and the National Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame. Some unique Aboriginal artworks can be found in one of the galleries at the Alice Springs Cultural Precinct as well.
